AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A. implements Madge Networks
solution to enhance Token Ring network and facilitate Ethernet integration

Madge Networks switching solutions enable AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A.,
the Italian branch of AVIS Europe plc car rental company, to optimize
its Token Ring investments and capitalize on low-cost peripheral devices

- Madge Networks N.V. (NASDAQ NM: MADGF) has successfully completed
a significant Token Ring implementation for AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A.,
the Italian branch of one of the largest international car rental
companies. The Madge Networks solution provides AVIS Autonoleggio
S.p.A. with the ability to integrate different LAN technologies and
low-cost peripheral devices. Madge Networks products have enabled
AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A. to protect its existing investment, relying
upon the native benefits of Token Ring such as the efficiency of large
frames, and prepare itself for next generation multimedia applications.
Leading Italian systems integrator, ITS srl of Fiano Romano, provided
implementation, consultancy, and support services. The Madge Networks
solution will also allow AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A. to enhance its network
management. TrueView™ - the free graphical management tool for
Madge Networks infrastructure products - provides a simple and effective
way to remotely monitor the whole network.

AVIS Autonoleggio S.p.A. have grown and the increase in electronic
transactions and multimedia applications has also raised the workload
on our internal LAN," commented Alessandro Biasini, Information

we needed to enhance our network to handle this increased traffic,
Madge Networks was the obvious choice.
"We are already using Madge layer 2 translating modules to integrate
our existing Token Ring network to an Ethernet workgroup - allowing
us to capitalize on low-cost Ethernet-ready devices more effectively
than with any other software-based router solutions. In the future,
we will consider upgrading our Ethernet workgroup link up to Gigabit
speeds and our Token Ring backbone connections to 100Mbps. Madge Uplink
Modules will make this possible without having to revise our architecture," Alessandro
Biasini continued.
