Madge Networks takes wireless LANs into enterprise
networks
Madge Networks provides secure, scalable, multi-technology solution
Amsterdam, The Netherlands (May 22, 2002) - Madge
Networks N.V. (NASDAQ NM: MADGF) announces an enterprise-grade solution
for local area networking based on 802.11 wireless LAN protocols. This
solution addresses and solves the key issues for enterprises who want
to include wireless LANs as part of their corporate-deployed network:
- Security: a five-layer scheme, covering physical access control
through to virtual private network, which provides greater security
than
the majority of existing fixed-wire enterprise LANs
- Scalability: a hardware and
software solution which will allow the installation of wireless
LANs to handle thousands of users
- Multi-technology: a single management
environment and corporate network interface for the handling of
all types of wireless LAN technology,
including 802.11b and 802.11a, which can incorporate any
new releases of wireless standards
- Integration: a wireless infrastructure

and Ethernet and includes
support for Bluetooth personal area networks.

The Madge Networks 2002 roadmap commences with today's launched products

Networks will be enhancing their wireless solution with a complete
family of 802.11a products and enhancements to Red-M™ Genos™ offering
greater scalability, improved performance and enhanced resilience.
