Ultimate Scalability
The Smart MK4 PCI is the result of over twelve years of continued investment
in Token Ring technology. It is an integrated adapter supporting both
original 16/4 Token Ring (both shared and full-duplex) and full duplex
100Mbps Token Ring.
The Smart MK4 is available in two form factors:
- The standard form factor product (51-05) is designed for use
with the full height PCI slots.
- The Low Profile variant (53-05) is designed for use in new
generation low form factor servers and slimline-cased PCs. Smart
MK4 is built to the latest PCI specification to support all PCs
including high speed multi-CPU processors.
Flexibility and Versatility
Smart MK4 PCI features a high performance PCI bus interface and advanced
software support. It is compatible with all the latest PCI-based PC systems
and supports automatic detection and selection of the following parameters:
- 100, 16 or 4 Mbps ring speed
- STP or UTP cable type
- Full Duplex or shared Token Ring connection
Software support is provided by LSS LAN Support Software. It provides
mainstream driver support, documentation and utility software. This includes
drivers for Madge adapters that support both Desktop, Server and Mobile
solutions.
Madge also provides drivers for other operating systems such as Linux,
Sun Solaris, Apple MacOS etc. For the latest software release information,
